Dino Saracino

Dino "Little Dino" Saracino (born 1972) is a soldier in the Colombo Crime Family. He was a member of Colombo captain Thomas Gioeli's crew who carried out multiple gangland murders over a decade, along with numerous commercial robberies and bank break-ins.

Murder of NYPD Officer

In April 2012, Saracino and former Colombo street boss Thomas Gioeli, were accused of the 1997 gangland slaying of NYPD officer Ralph Dols. According to reports Saracino, his cousin and former Colombo captain Dino Calabro (Big Dino), and former soldier Joseph Competiello (Joey Caves) ambushed and gunned down Dols in front of his Sheepshead Bay home. Calabro, Competiello and Saracino, were later rewarded for the rubout with induction as made men. Both Calabro and Competiello became government informants and confirmed the events of the murder.

During the trial Saracino was implicated by his older turncoat brother Sebastian, who took the stand, as being a killer and being involved in multiple murders. Saracino shouted back at his brother: “Stop lying!” and “Don’t call me your brother no more!”

On May 9, 2012 Gioeli and Saracino were acquitted of the murder of Ralph Dols. Despite being accused of killing 6 individuals between them, they were only found guilty of several racketeering charges. Saracino was convicted of conspiring to hit Michael Burnside, who was suspected of killing "Little Dino’s" brother. He was also convicted on several other charges, including extortion, witness tampering and obstruction of justice.

Conviction

In April of 2014, Saracino was sentenced to 50 years in prison for a variety of racketeering activities including loan sharking, gambling and other mob staples.

The mobster then told prosecutors “I hope you give Calabro and Competiello the same amount,” before vanishing into custody for the next half century.
